Hyundai card (현대카드) is a Korean credit card company owned by Hyundai Motor Group.

Hyundai card was originally founded with the name 'Diners Club Korea(다이너스 클럽 코리아)' as a part of Daewoo Group. In 2001, Hyundai Motor Group acquired the card company and changed its name. Because of that, Hyundai card was the Korean credit card company issuing a Diners club credit card until the end of 2019.

Hyundai card offers the weirdest reward programme, called 'M Point'(엠포인트). If you're about to choose a Hyundai card, you must know how you'll redeem this reward, because it's quite different from other point reward programmes.

You can use your M Points in these shops. But you can't use your M Points for the whole price, but Hyundai card allows you to use your points up to 20~30% of the price. For example, if you try to buy some pieces of stuff and have to pay 20,000 KRW in a Seven Eleven, you can use only 4,000 M Points and still you'll have to pay the rest(16,000 KRW) with your Hyundai card. So you must spend your money whenever you want to spend your points. Sometimes, Hyundai card allows you to use it up to 50% of the price.

There are other ways to spend your M Points. Your M Points can be redeemed to vouchers for major dept stores and hypermarkets, coupons for mobile phone purchases, Or gift card from Hyundai card. But in this case, Your M Points will be valued at only 67%. For example, if you want to buy a 100,000 KRW gift card with your points, you must spend 150,000 M Points.

Hyundai Card also offers a metal card to their travel card(the Green, the Red, the Purple and the Black) members. You'll need to pay 100,000 KRW or 100,000 M Points for acquiring a metal card.

From 24th May 2019, Costco Korea will start accepting Hyundai card.

On 1st Nov 2019, Hyundai Card announced the end of the partnership with Diners Club International.

Hyundai Card is offering their mobile application in English. To change the language, Tap Menu → Scroll down to the bottom → Tap 한국어 of the 'Language Setting' section → Tap 'English'.

Overseas money transfer service (Discontinued on 24th April 2020)

Hyundai card also offers an overseas money transfer service to its customers.

To use this service, you must download their application, 현대카드 해외송금, from Google Play or Appstore. This may need your Korean citizenship.
