Most of the banks in Korea open from 9 o'clock to 16 o'clock on weekdays(It may vary with financial institutions). It makes you difficult to access them because most of you may have a job or study to do on weekdays. So you may wonder if there are weekend branches in Korea.
Of course, there are. However, they're not that many and only a few. On this page, we'll explain how you can find them.
The Korea Federation of Banks(은행연합회) has a list of the weekend bank branches. But not just weekend bank branches but the bank branches with extended opening hours, etc too. The website suggests that contact the branch before visiting.
1. Go to
the website of The Korea Federation of Banks then click on '소비자포털'.
2. Then, move your mouse cursor to '금융서비스정보' and click on the menu '탄력점포검색' on the sub-menu appears below.
Then you'll see the introduction page and tabs.
You can choose how you search the branches.
- 유형별 검색 : Search by branch type
- 은행별 검색 : Search by bank
If you click on '유형별 검색' you can choose a branch type to find.
Each tab means...
- 관공서 소재 점포 : Branches located inside the govt offices and state-funded institutions. Most of the branches will open only on weekdays until 18:00.
- 외국인근로자 특화점포 : Branches that open on weekends for only foreign residents. If you're a Korean citizen, you'll be denied to get services from the branches on weekends.
- 상가 및 오피스 인근 점포 : Branches located inside or near commercial buildings.
- 환전센터 : Branches specialised for foreign currency exchanges. FX Exchange Centre(환전센터), usually opens 24/7 in an airport or harbour, doesn't offer a regular banking service but only the foreign bill exchange service.
- 고기능 무인 자동화기 : ATMs with additional functionalities.
4. Click on a tab and search for a branch near your home. '(출)', '(파)' means a smaller branch(출장소). They possibly offer limited services compared to other ordinary branches and some of the branches may be located inside a company and they won't let you in.

- 은행 : (Noun) bank
- 점포 : (Noun) branch
- 주소 : (Noun) address (The bulding number, road name and the region name where the building is)
- 영업일 : (Noun) business day. Combination of 영업(營業, Business) and 일(日, Day)
- 영업시간 : (Noun) business hours, office hours. Combination of 영업(營業, Business) and 시간(時間, Hour, Time)
- 상세 : (Noun) details, (Adj) detailed (상세하다)
- 연락처 : (Noun) Contact information (Usually telephone number)
- 평일 : (Noun) weekday(s), working day(s). Combination of 평(平, Normal, ordinary, usual) and 일(日, Day). 주중(週中) also means the same.
- 주말 : (Noun) weekend(s). Combination of 주(週, Week, cycle, anniversary) and 말(末, End, last stage, final).
- 일(요일) : (Noun) Sunday
- 월(요일) : (Noun) Monday
- 화(요일) : (Noun) Tuesday
- 수(요일) : (Noun) Wednesday
- 목(요일) : (Noun) Thursday
- 금(요일) : (Noun) Friday
- 토(요일) : (Noun) Saturday
5. If you click on the '보기' button, you can see the map of the branch.
